KORU Water was founded by Steve Dymand to be New Zealand’s finest exported water.
Steve Dymand is an entrepreneur with a passion for the beverage industry, and realizes a lifelong dream by bringing the unspoiled essence of
New Zealand to the United States with KORU Water. Born and raised in New Zealand, Steve's entry into the world of beverages
began four decades ago when he made the trans-Pacific move to the United States.
In 1980, Steve arrived in California with bottles of Waimak Mineral Water, a brand from his hometown in New Zealand. His idea was to introduce a premium water from New Zealand to the American market. But, for various reasons the plan did not eventuate. However, Steve recognized
how enormous the US beverage industry was and was fascinated by the huge opportunities in the soft drink marketplace.
The ‘new age’ beverage category had only just begun, and so he set about creating a soft drink brand of his own. Consequently, Koala Springs was born.
An Australian mineral water flavored with fruit juice, Koala Springs was initially manufactured in Australia and imported to the US. Right from the start,
the brand was an overnight success and grew into a leader in the new age beverage category. In less than 5 years Koala Springs had
annual sales approaching $50M and was being sold in more than 20 states and was available in all small and major supermarkets,
convenience stores, Costco and Sam’s Clubs.
Fast forward to today, Steve had not given up on his dream to import a premium water from New Zealand and had finally created his own brand.
Named KORU Water, this is a true challenger for the imported premium water category. High in pH, low in Total Dissolved Solids, KORU is a natural
alkaline spring water to be respected as a real competitor in the space. The KORU bottling plant in Canterbury, in the South Island of New Zealand,
draws its water from aquifers deep underground that are fed directly from Mount Cook and the majestic Southern Alps.
The KORU production plant is the largest water bottling facility in Australasia, with world-class high speed bottling equipment
capable of extremely high output and quality.
KORU Water is not just a water brand; it is a representation of New Zealand's pristine environment, embodying the essence of purity and
unpolluted natural beauty. The name ‘KORU’ itself, is derived from the New Zealand native Māori culture, and signifies new life, growth,
and harmony which is a fitting reflection of the brand's ethos.
